Air Force awards $355M aircraft deal

Sierra Nevada Corp. has landed a $355 million deal to support a Light Air Support aircraft program for the U.S. Air Force. The Sparks, Nev.-based company was awarded the contract Friday from Aeronautical Systems Center, which is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. According to the Defense Department, the LAS aircraft will be used for conducting advanced flight training, surveillance, air interdiction, and close air support.
